Mit dem Magnetfeld-Imaging System kann die Hamburger Asklepios Klinik St. Georg ihren Patienten nun eine neue kardiologische Diagnose-Methode anbieten.
Implantable defibrillators are a useful protection against sudden cardiac death – if implanted to the “right” patients. Therefore identification of these risk groups is an important aspect in cardiological diagnostic.
The cardiological department of the university hospital Jena can revert to a further predictive diagnostic procedure. With the Magnetic Field Imaging system (MFI System), the risk of sudden cardiac death induced by ventricular tachycardia, for example concerning post infarction patients and other high-risk groups, can be analyzed.
Magnetic field imaging in ischemia diagnostics
Jena, May 30th 2008. About 800.000 intracardiac catheter examinations per year are executed in Germany. The percentage of patients whose examination results in a therapeutical measure is just about 30-40 %. By means of a magnetic field imaging system, a new cardiological diagnostic procedure, an alternative non-invasive possibility for ischemia diagnostics may be found in the future. This issue is currently being followed up in a clinical trial.
